I start treatment soon. Support please :)

Postby animaluver » Tue Feb 23, 2010 9:07 pm

I'm 19 and am finally getting treated for severe disordered eating that I've struggled with my whole life. My picky eating and low quantity of food that I consume causes me to be very underweight. I'll be going to the inpatient unit as soon as there is an opening for me. After a few days to a few weeks of that, I will be put in residential care, which will be a minimum of 30 days with an average of 60-90. I'm actually excited about it and although I know it's going to be hard, I know that I'll be healthier after treatment. I have some good friends to support me and the guy I'm dating wants to visit me every week! Is there any advice, thoughts, or encouraging words that anyone can share with me? Thanks.

Welcome Leah,
I am glad you feel ready to start down the road of recovery and wish you all the best. I won't lie to you it will be hard work but you are worth it. It's important to remember that people do recovery and to take it one day at a time (or one hour or one minute) It's really positive that you have people who love and support you. It possible let us know how you are getting on. I have made some great friends on here, this site is a good sorce of support for me I hope you find the same.

love and kisses

congratulations leah!
that's such a big move. a very positive move in the right direction.
you deserve recovery and it's waiting for you with open arms. it isn't always easy, and sometimes feels impossible, but it's always about the journey. like amisha said, please let us know how you're doing if you can and if not come back when you get done.
take care,
longing to change
