In a study of 84 patients followed for 21 years after their first hospital admission for anorexia, half had recovered, 10 percent still suffered from the disorder and nearly 16 percent had died from causes related to the illness. Those who suffered for a long time and lost the most weight before they were first treated fared the worst, said study author said Dr Stephan Zipfel.
